From Foam Pillows to Footed Pajamas, Here Are 3 Simple Tricks for Getting a Good Night’s Sleep

On average, people in the United States get about eight-and-a-half hours of sleep per night. That number may make you think everyone’s sleeping peacefully, but that’s not always the case. In fact, 40% of people don’t get the recommended amount of sleep that they need, leading to tired students and workers just barely making it through the day. If that sounds like your situation, you may need to find some ways to get your 40 (or more) winks.

So what can you do to get more sleep at night? Here are three different tricks you can try to get some shut eye.

Buy a new pillow. Sometimes all you need to get to sleep is some added comfort. Some people are okay with regular feather pillows. For others, something like a memory foam pillow may be the answer. Having something comfortable to lay on is key, and buying a new pillow may be more cost effective than having to pick out a whole new mattress and boxspring.

Get some exercise. If you’re having trouble getting to sleep, it may be because your body isn’t tired just yet. In order to help yourself wind down, make sure you get some physical activity at least a few times a week. Go for a walk after dinner, or hit the gym on a day off. Doing so will help your body expend some energy, so you aren’t restless at night.

Find a new pair of pajamas. According to one poll, 61% of Americans don’t have enough sleepwear options to choose from. Some people will wear any old thing to bed, but choosing a new favorite pair of pajamas may be the answer. For both men and women footed pajamas are becoming the new trend in sleepwear. Similar to the onesie pajamas that many people had as children, footed pajamas for adults provide comfort and style perfect for a cold night in. Even for women footed pajamas can be a stylish and comfortable option. Pink onesie pajamas are a cute way to stay cozy, and adults can find onesie pajamas for kids so mom and child can match.
