Rob Bell at the Knitting Factory Concert House

Christian and inspirational gifts

Rob Bell, bestselling author and one of Time‘s 100 Most Influential People in the World, is coming to Spokane on his Everything Is Spiritual tour, a one-man show drawing surprising connections between the universe and life, demonstrating the links between spirituality, science and more.

Although Bell is a well-known figure — and often a controversial one — in the Christian Church, he addresses big spiritual questions many people are asking. In an age when a full 62% of Americans say they wish they read scripture more often, Everything Is Spiritual promises that “wherever you’re coming from and whatever you’re wrestling with, the … experience [can] inspire, provoke, challenge and give you hope as we together explore and enjoy this beautiful, mysterious and endlessly fascinating world we call home.”

Bell’s first book, Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith, offered a revolutionary look at Jesus, selling 100,000 copies in less than a year after it was published in 2005. His polarizing books Jesus Wants to Save Christians and Love Wins were also very popular, the latter making it to the New York Times Bestsellers list with its questioning of traditional Christian beliefs about hell and eternal punishment. His most recent book, coauthored with his wife, Kristen Bell (not to be confused with the actress of the same name), is The Zimzum of Love: A New Way of Understanding Marriage.

Bell will be at the Knitting Factory Concert House, located at 919 W. Sprague Ave., on Fri., Aug. 7. Doors open at 7:30 and the show will start at 8:30; there will also be a pre-show seminar at 6 p.m. featuring a conversation with Rob in a smaller group. That VIP seminar also includes a signed copy of The Zimzum of Love (limited seating is available for the VIP experience).

General admission is $29.50, and the VIP session is $101. Tickets are available online via the Knitting House website.
