The 15 years following the turn of the 21st century has brought a lot of changes to lifestyles and fashion. We are currently in the decade of ‘recycled fashion.’ Most of the current fashion trends have borrowed the fundamentals from decades past. Recently, people have reached back into their own childhood for a new sleepwear style: onesie pajamas for adults!

If you are one of the 74% of American who wear pajamas to bed, you’ll want to keep reading. If you’re one of the 8% who sleep naked, you’ll want to keep reading too (I think your roommate would appreciate you wearing some clothes to bed).

Pajamas for adults don’t have to be the boring t-shirt and shorts combo you’ve been rocking since high school. Onesie pajamas are a great way to thank your mind and body for getting you through another day while making a statement: “I look good and I know it.”

A prime example of the upward mobility of footie pajamas is the tale of Steve Pandi. He’s the founder of Jumpin Jammerz and decided to host a footie party at the 2012 South by Southwest Interactive Festival. More than 300 people showed up wearing pajama onesies and broke a Guinness World Record (yes, there is a record for “Largest Footed Pajamas Party”). If 300 people are willing to wear onesies in public, I think it’s about time for them to become a staple household item. When was the last time you got 300 people to agree upon anything, let alone wear the same outfit to a party?

When buying footie pajamas, keep in mind that they will most likely shrink a bit if you wash and dry them. But don’t worry, you’ll rock them no matter what.
